About Me

I am an accomplished Manager with over 27 years in the Printing industry (Digital & Litho), with practical experience of many aspects of the trade. My responsibilities have included sales, production, improving print unit efficiency, customer service, designing and staff training (NVQ level). I have excellent communication skills developed over many years of customer care and liaison.

I have worked for companies such as Michael Burbridge Ltd, a creative design and print company, as an Estimator. They produce a wide range of products ranging from business cards to full colour brochures as well as bespoke folders. Previously I worked for Colourflow, a litho & digital print company, as a Centre Manager for their Basingstoke branch (was Sprint Print). I held this position for 5 and 1/2 years. After the take over by Colourflow I was placed there to implement new work ethics, quality control checks and new work flow patterns. Resulting in a seamless change of company ownership, increased profits and content staff with greater control over their working environment. Once the professional image of the business was in place we attracted new and very lucrative accounts.  In 2002 I was sent up to the print production unit in New Malden, on the company Directors' request, for a 3 month period to increase production and efficiency. The results, I am glad to say, were very positive. Which included a marked improvement in the the number of re-prints, quality and a faster work-flow. The improved work-flow was achieved by designing/constructing and utilising a Print Production Database. Another company that I managed was Panda Print, I where I improved efficiency and increased production. After that I moved to Forest Printing, a family business that wanted me to upgrade the company profile, train staff and increase sales.

To date I have gone into 3 Print companies and achieved positive results in all cases.

My IT skills have been broadened by going to various courses, studying software packages such as Pagemaker, Quark, Indesign, Dreamweaver, Corel Draw, the Microsoft Office suite of programs and MS Frontpage (all to a very competent standard) and I have utilised this knowledge within the workplace to its full potential. Other courses attended include customer sales/care, telephone manner, price structuring, staff management and unit location/layout. I am a great believer in leading by example and I like to take the ‘hands on approach’ where possible as this promotes good teamwork, which then in turn produces good results.

In January 2011 I got a Counter balance Forklift Truck Licence and I'm currently studying Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash CS4 using a home learning course. Once qualified I will have achieved A.C.A. status.
